About Me

Hi there, I'm Danielle Thoreson, and welcome to my portfolio! My passion for software development began after completing a full-stack software development bootcamp, where I discovered how much I enjoyed building applications and solving technical challenges. That experience inspired me to continue my education by earning a Bachelor of Applied Computer Science from City University of Seattle, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Since then, I've continued expanding my technical skills through both professional experience and hands-on software development.

Today, I work closely with software engineering teams in the fintech industry, leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT), evaluating new system functionality, documenting technical workflows, and serving as a technical resource for my team.

I also work as a Software Support Engineer and Web Developer at Typerrys Group LLC, where I develop and maintain websites for small and medium-sized businesses using technologies including JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS, REST APIs, AWS, and Postman. I enjoy creating software that solves real-world problems and delivers meaningful experiences for users. Whether I'm developing web applications, testing new software, troubleshooting production issues, or collaborating with clients and engineering teams, I'm always excited to learn, grow, and build technology that makes a positive impact.

A Sci-Fi Fantasy Game based on Dungeons and Dragons built using MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js, Socket.io, D&D 5e API, and Tailwind CSS.

A user-friendly organizational application built using Python, MySQL, Flask, and Google Books API to help users manage their current book inventory by creating access to their own virtual library.

VIRTUAL ARCADE

· Game acts as a demo to demonstrate integration of a “game within a game.”

· Programmed a captivating game application using Unity Game Engine, skillfully harnessing pre-existing packages comprising layers, textures, and colors to accelerate the creation of an immersive first-person virtual arcade room.

· Engineered realistic physics by intelligently incorporating camera view axis constraints through a meticulously coded C# script, further enhancing user interaction and immersion within the game world.

MYSTIC MIMIC

· Created the Mystic Mimic application collaboratively by leveraging the diverse expertise of a multidisciplinary team, effectively delegating work whilst utilizing Github branching, Trello, and Balsamiq wireframing to ensure a seamless development process.

· Crafted an intuitive and immersive front-end interface, seamlessly unifying the gaming experience, by combining Tailwind CSS and React technologies.

· Developed an interactive chat feature using Socket.io, fostering and enhancing socialization among players depending on their selected character campaign.

· Implemented the Google Books API, enabling users to effortlessly search for books through a dynamic search bar that helps them explore and find books to add to their virtual library.

· Enhanced the user experience by integrating the Spotify API directly into the interface, enabling users to enjoy their favorite music while seamlessly browsing through their personalized virtual library account.

· Integrated BCRYPT during registration and login to enhance user security by encrypting sensitive account information and cross-referencing it with existing data in the MySQL database.
